Musical Qualities...

This composition expresses the musical qualities of the peice using line, colour and shape. Tone, rhythem and balence are used to increase the impact of the composition.

The variety of line that occur throughout the peice indicates the changes in the music. The straight, sharp lines- drawn usually in black- give a large impact when the peice is examined. The softer, smoother lines show the quieter or less excentric parts to the music.

The busy composition is filled with immense use of tone and bright colours that give a contrast to the smaller sections of the painting which are more dull when the music quietened. The repetion of cresent, circular, right angled and irregular shapes throughout the peice creates a lively rhythem enhanced by the variety of directions being emphasised in the peice.

The sizes in this composition emphasis the lively feel by using a variety of objects at different sizes with different colours, spread throughout the peice.

The Centre of intrest is not clearly defined. When one first veiws the work, ones eyes are drawn to many places at the same time.

Contrast used particually well with the difference in line and colour that is evident. To the bottom left the colours become more dull and the shapes get larger, whereas in the top right the colours are brighter and the shapes are smaller which possibly indicate short rythems in the music.

To conclude, the work is compiled with a great deal of thought which influence the artists acheivement. The obviouse use of direct colour, line and shape induce a feeling of lively and hearty music. This is emphasiesed greatly by the busyness expressed and the lack of centre of intrest- despite that the work communicates clearly the music it was hoping to.
